On the morning of this Tuesday, March 29, Sony went out to confirm the existence of its new service that effectively combines PS plus and ps now . One of the most important points is that, unlike Xbox Game Pass , the variant of PlayStation will not offer exclusive games on the same day of its launch, and here we tell you why.
Jim Ryan, CEO of PlayStation , he explained in an interview for gamesindustry.bi z the reason why we will not see the games first-party of the company arrived in day one to this new service of PS Plus. In your own words of him:
"We believe that we are in a good and virtuous cycle with the studies where the investment translates into success, which makes it possible to make more investments, which in turn leads to more success. We like that cycle and we believe that our players also like it.
As for putting our own games in this service, or any of our services, on the day of launch... as you know, it is not a path that we have taken in the past. And it remains without being an option that we are going to choose with this new service. We believe that if we were going to do that with the games we do in PlayStation Studios, that virtuous cycle would break. The level of investment we need for our studies would not be possible, and we believe that this effect on the quality of the games we do would not be something that the players would like. "
This is something that previously Ryan had already reiterated, saying that for PlayStation , having a service as Game Pass was not something viable or profitable. Eventually these games will come to this new service, just do not expect them to do it the same day of its premiere.
Editor's note: It was to be expected because Ryan had already spoken about this in the past. Besides that Microsoft can afford to have something like Game Pass, while for PlayStation it simply would not work.
